Similar to other metro area school districts, Clear Creek is transitioning to a remote, or distance learning model starting March 16th. Remote learning will happen March 16-March 20, followed by our regularly scheduled spring break, March 23-March 27.

Learning Continues
Depending on the school & level, teachers are providing learning remotely next week in various formats: older students will utilize technology while younger children will in most cases work through packets & books. Each teacher has been working hard to design these learning experiences. We anticipate questions and a few “bumps”; this is a great way for us to reflect & revise! Thank you for being understanding as we learn right alongside our students how to best provide remote learning. Should you or our students have questions, simply email the teacher(s) directly. We are available next week each day (remotely) to support learning.

We will be working with CDE, the Colorado Department of Education, to assess and report attendance. In a remote learning model, there are three options to do this:
All excerpted from CDE online school guidance, 2019
1)  Minimum Login Time Requirements, “...establishing a minimum amount of time that must be spent logged-in to coursework per day or week…”
2)  Specific task completion for a given time period, “...students complete a series of regularly scheduled tasks on a daily or weekly basis. If the student completes all of the required tasks during the specified amount of time, he or she is considered in attendance.”
3)  Minimum lesson/unit completion requirements, “...student attendance is directly tied to what the student accomplishes and/or produces over a given period of time. The assignments completed essentially become the evidence that a student has been in attendance, and if no work is produced, then a student is not considered to be in attendance.”

We will utilize options 2 and 3, which allows the most flexibility, and accounts for students who might not have dependable internet access. Your child’s teacher(s) will provide information on how to turn in assignments so that attendance is accurate. Depending on the grade level and internet access, some assignments might not be collected until students return to school.

During spring break, district leadership will work with state and local health experts to assess the situation. We will keep families informed regarding our planned “return to school” date of March 30th. Prior to students and educators returning to school buildings, our custodial staff will do another round of disinfecting and cleaning.

Student Support
This upcoming week we are providing seven day food boxes for our students who might not have access to consistent meals when school is not in session. Monday, March 16, 2-4pm, and Wednesday, March 18, 8-10am we will be handing out boxes with cold breakfast and lunch items at the former middle school, located at 320 Highway 103 in Idaho Springs.

If a student works with a counselor or social worker in one of our schools, or simply needs some extra emotional support over the next few weeks, emails can be accessed from our website (listed below) or from the direct links found below.  You may choose to schedule a virtual or phone session for your student during the period of school closure (other than during Spring Break):

Natalie Winkler, Middle School Counselor,
Alyson Loitz, High School Counselor,
Kayla Havens, CCSD School Counselor,
Debbie Corriero, JCMH Counselor,
Sue Crawford, JCMH Counselor,
Lauren Courtney, Clear Creek Social Worker,

We are here to help!

Please reach out with any questions or suggestions. Our biggest gift is our local community, and the talented people who support each other. We will post updates on our Facebook page and our website (both found below).
