I am delighted to announce that Karen Quanbeck has accepted the position of Superintendent for Clear Creek School District. After conducting an exhaustive professional search, receiving dozens of applications and interviewing finalists, the Board is confident that we have found the right person for the job. Ms. Q, as she prefers to be called, is experienced both in the classroom and in Administration. She has the right balance of experience and vision to lead Clear Creek Schools for years to come.

Ms. Q will start on July 1, 2019.  There will be open house events in July to welcome her to the District and informal coffees in August.

A special thank you goes to the community members and employees who took time to assist in the search. Your dedication to our schools is appreciated and has been noticed.

Please see below for a welcome from Ms. Q.

Clear Creek School District RE-1 Board of Education

Clear Creek Families & Staff,

I am honored and excited to lead Clear Creek School District! Over the next few months I look forward to meeting and getting to know students, families, staff, and community. Together we have the opportunity to continue the traditions of Clear Creek schools and to provide the best learning experiences for our students.

Currently I am Chief of Schools for Elementary Schools in Jefferson County Public Schools. I’ve worked in Jeffco for over twenty years. Prior to Jeffco I worked in Westminster 50 and District 196 in Minnesota.  I taught middle school and high school, and led at both the elementary and secondary level. As a principal at Ralston Elementary in Genesee, I discovered the many gifts of a small mountain community, focused on kids.

Recently, I’ve been having the most fun supporting leaders in efforts to transform learning for students across Jeffco. It's an exciting time to be an educator, with new ways of thinking about learning and instruction, all focused on preparing our students for jobs potentially very different from our own.

My family includes two children, Chloe who will be a senior, and Jackson who will be a freshman. Kip, my husband, is an avid mountain biker and skier. All three of them have enjoyed skiing Loveland for years, while I prefer the warm lodge to a cold chairlift. You are more likely to find me running a trail, hiking my old chocolate lab, or drinking great coffee while reading something fascinating on education. We have lived in Evergreen for years, where the kids have grown up and we've enjoyed the tight community.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me to share your ideas and questions as we embark on this journey together. We will be publishing upcoming opportunities to meet and share more of our stories with one another.
