Superintendent's Message

I am honored to be the superintendent for Clear Creek School District. Clear Creek is an incredibly special place: I continue to be inspired by the community collaboration & focus on youth. Blessed by some of the most beautiful trails and mountain vistas in the area, CCSD students enjoy not only the benefits of a small community, they are growing up with an appreciation for the environment and outdoor activities.
Things are a little different in CCSD: classes average 12-18 students, a football or basketball game is a community event. You might see the star basketball player as the lead in the play on the same weekend. We embrace student interests and nurture creativity. Kids are "known" and families are often second and third generation Golddiggers.
We recently added a Project Bike Tech classroom, where math, business, and fun meet. This summer thanks to Mountain Youth Network, Clear Creek Open Space, and other partners, students will help build Golddigger Trail on our secondary campus on Floyd Hill. Hiking, biking, spaces to engage in environmental learning, reflection, and more will be one more way kids can learn.
Thanks to the support of our community, we are building new playgrounds at all elementary schools, co-designed by students. Students will play on the new synthetic turf field this spring at the secondary campus, where families can enjoy a brand new stadium with an awe-inspiring view, a well-equipped announcer's booth, and concessions/restrooms.
There's much to celebrate in CCSD, including the recent awarding of the highly competitive RISE grant, which will support our shift to experiential learning for students. We learned a lot during the pandemic, so instead of "putting it behind us", we are busy creating a new plan: the Student Driven Futures plan. Relationships matter. Students need voice & choice. Technology can open doors. And most importantly: compliance-driven learning is NOT how kids learn best.
Best Educators. Empowered Learners. Visionary District.
Join us on our journey.
